Our story

We’re Ellie and Alice, two friends who love talking about skin. Alice lives and breathes skin, make-up and haircare, and she’s the one everyone asks what to buy and how to use it. Ellie is a software engineer who kept asking Alice. We got tired of the answer depending on which influencer was paid that week.

We started out building a “Whoop for skin”: a device that measures your skin every day. Then we found the market was already filling up fast, with devices, apps and selfie scanners all arriving at once. So we changed course. We kept everything we’d built for reading skin, planning routines and explaining what products do, and added the thing we’d always wanted: a place to talk with people whose skin behaves like yours.

And the money? We don’t make any from ChattySkin yet. If we ever do, it’ll be by letting brands post clearly labelled “Promoted” content, or by publishing reports on which products people say suit which skin, built from anonymous, grouped data from people who’ve chosen to include theirs. We will never sell your personal data. It’s in our agreement with you. Nobody here is selling to you, and that includes influencers.
